4 Cathedral football players sign to play at next level

EL PASO, Texas - While most high school football teams in El Paso managed to play a complete season last year, that wasn't the case for Cathedral High School.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Fighting Irish played only one game last season.

That was a problem for the seniors on the team who were hoping to catch the attention of college coaches.

Still, through all the adversity, Cathedral was able to get four players signed to play at the college level.

Cathedral head football coach, Curtis Crane says that's the most players the school has ever signed.

"We're really proud of them, they deserve it," Crane said. "These boys were special they worked extra hard, and it's just a shame they didn't get a full season this past year."

The four players who signed during Tuesday's signing ceremony are as follows:

  • Aaron Tavizon, Norwich University
  • Julio Hernandez, Norwich University
  • Evans Bowling, University of San Diego
  • Antonio Ontiveros III, Southwestern University
