SDSU pulls away in 3rd quarter, beats New Mexico State 28-10

CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Greg Bell ran for a touchdown and a career-high 165 yards, Jordon Brookshire scrambled for a score, and San Diego State pulled away in the third quarter to beat New Mexico State 28-10 in the Aztecs’ season opener. Bell’s 23-yard touchdown run pulled San Diego State to 10-7 early in the third quarter. Brookshire made it 14-7 when he dove into the end zone to give the Aztecs a 14-10 lead. Andrew Aleki’s 25-yard pick-6 made it 21-10 with 2:45 remaining in the third. New Mexico State’s Jonah Johnson was 34-of-56 passing for 326 yards with one touchdown pass.
