Hanks falls in game one of Class 5A regional semifinal against Colleyville Heritage, 4-2

MIDLAND, Texas - Tomorrow will be another day for the Hanks High School softball team.

Friday afternoon in Midland, TX, the Hanks Knights lost in game one of their best-of-three series to Colleyville Heritage, 4-2.

The Knights are competing in the Class 5A regional semifinal or sweet 16.

A win in this round would advance the Knights to the Elite 8 for the first time ever in program history.

However, the Knights are now backed into a corner after falling in game one.

Colleyville Heritage was up 2-1 in the bottom of the 6th when Hanks would score a run to tie the game at two.

In the top of the 7th and with the bases loaded, Colleyville Heritage would break the deadlock scoring two runs off of walks.

The Knights were unable to respond in the bottom of the 7th.

Hanks will now have to win two in a row Saturday in order to punch their ticket to the regional final.

Colleyville Heritage leads the series 1-0, and just has to win one more game.

Game two is scheduled for 10 a.m. CST, with game three (if necessary) scheduled for 30 minutes after the conclusion of game two.
