Miners host first of five summer stops on the Caravan Series

EL PASO, Texas -- We're less than 70 days away from the first UTEP football game of the season and the Miners are rallying the troops, via the Miner Caravan series.

"It's really good cause we're getting a lot of passersby coming to see things and hoping to expose our program to more people in El Paso," Dana Dimel UTEP head football coach said. "We know how much El Paso cares about UTEP sports, UTEP athletics, we know that but we also want to get out and be seen ourselves."

At the first of five summer stops on the Caravan Series, there were players from football, volleyball and soccer and they signed 915 posters for lucky fans.

You could also snag a ticket to the season opener against North Texas and get a 915 shirt all for just $20.

It's all part of UTEPs campaign to try and sell out the Sun Bowl on August 27th. Already the game is more than 50 percent sold but they want to see the whole bowl packed. The last time UTEP sold out a game at the Sun Bowl was in 2008.

"It's a real game changer when you have a full crowd," Reynaldo Flores UTEP WR said. "It's something we haven't experienced as much but I think the community has bought in and they've seen what we've done with the program and we need everybody there it's really a game changer and it's gonna help us a lot this year."

You can buy $9.15 tickets for the season opener as part of the 915 campaign at any of the caravan events this summer - the next will be on Saturday, June 25 at former UTEP football player Aaron Jones' bar - Showtyme Sports Grill.

Future caravan stops are the El Paso Chihuahuas game versus Round Rock (July 16), Cielo Vista Mall (July 23) and Camp Cohen Water Park (July 30).
