Lesley Engle is the content manager for ABC-7, the most-watched station in the El Paso area. She has spent the majority of her more than 20-year career in New England, overseeing news operations for ABC22 and FOX44, which cover Vermont, New Hampshire, and Northern New York.

Engle has covered a wide variety of news and feature stories, including the three-week manhunt following an infamous prison escape by two convicted killers from a maximum-security prison in upstate New York. The 2015 escape, according to public records obtained by Engle at the time, cost state taxpayers millions in overtime.

Engle has coordinated coverage of countless local, state, and national elections during her time as a news manager, including New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation presidential primary on several occasions. She also spent over a decade coordinating news coverage of the Vermont Legislature.

Engle is a fellow of the 2015 New England First Amendment Institute (now known as the Gloria L. Negri First Amendment Institute), where she was selected as one of 25 journalists from media outlets across six states to participate in the program. She is also a fellow of the Carole A. Kneeland Project for Responsible Journalism.

Engle has been recognized for her investigative work, which often involves filing public records requests. She is an advocate for open government and transparency.

Engle’s work has helped her stations earn multiple regional Edward R. Murrow Awards and Emmy Awards.

Engle received a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism in 2005 from Northern Vermont University- Lyndon.
