3-year-old boy abandoned at Santa Teresa border, rescued by Border Patrol agents

SANTA TERESA, New Mexico -- A three-year-old boy was found abandoned in Santa Teresa on Friday.
According to the Customs and Border Protection, a group of migrants was spotted by Santa Teresa Border Patrol Station camera operators on April 15.
A Mobile Response Team went out and encountered the boy who is from Guatemala. Agents immediately took the boy to the Santa Teresa station to be evaluated by medical staff. CBP officials say the toddler was in good health. The boy has been transferred to the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services.
CBP officials point out how fortunate it was to have found the boy when they did before he could be fully exposed to harsh desert conditions for hours.
"Smugglers have no regard for human life, thankfully, our agents located and rescued the toddler," said Chavez.
