El Paso man arrested and charged with murder

EL PASO, Texas - Crimes Against Persons (CAP) detectives arrested Angel Hinojos, 21, in connection with a double shooting on Sunday afternoon.

It happened just after 3 p.m. on the 1000 block of E. 7th Street in the Segundo Barrio, police officers responded to a report of a shooting outside the Jalisco Cafe.

Hinojos confronted a 66-year-old woman and Jesus Lopez, 51, according to CAP investigators Hinojos then shot both Lopez and the woman.

They were transported to an area hospital where Lopez later died from his injuries. The woman remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Through the investigation it was determined Hinojos was related to the shooting victims. He was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

He remains in the El Paso County Jail on a combined total of $750,000 bond for both charges.
