EL PASO, Texas -- A semi-truck crash on a wet and slick Interstate-10 in west El Paso backed up traffic for miles for several hours on Thursday evening.

A Federal Express semi crashed into the median along I-10 westbound at Executive Center during rain showers. There was no immediate word of any injuries.

As of 6 p.m., police indicated traffic was backed up to Schuster and officials expected it to take a couple of hours to clear the scene. As of 8 p.m., the westbound interstate was completely shut down as crews were still working to remove the wreckage. Finally around 9 p.m. the highway fully reopened for motorists.

I-10 was the second major roadway to be impacted by semi-truck crashes on the rainy commute home for many. A pair of semi-truck crashes also snarled traffic along Transmountain Road near the museums.
