Semi-truck crash into guardrails at mile-marker 20 along Transmountain Rd.

EL PASO, Texas -- Two separate but nearby semi-truck crashes along a rain-slickened Transmountain Road late Thursday afternoon snarled traffic and injured at least one person.

The crashes happened along Transmountain at mile-marker 20 on the eastern edge of Franklin Mountains State Park near the museums. One semi crashed into some guardrails, while the other crashed into the side of a mountain.

The driver of one of the trucks was taken to a local hospital, but there was no word on his condition. There were no immediate reports of other injuries.

Around 5 p.m., eastbound lanes of Transmountain were closed and traffic diverted to I-10, while westbound was also closed causing a backup that stretched to U.S. 54.

Authorities said the scenes were cleared and the road fully reopened to traffic around 7 p.m.
