UPDATE: Police on Thursday released the identity of the pedestrian killed as 49-year-old Ricky Snodgrass.

ORIGINAL REPORT: EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso Police Department said a 49-year-old man was struck and killed early Tuesday morning near the El Paso County Coliseum.

It happened about 3:30 a.m. along the 4300 block of Delta Drive and Tobin Place in central El Paso.

Investigators said the victim, whose name was not released, was crossing the street but wasn't in a crosswalk.

The driver of the car "did not see the pedestrian until it was too late, striking him," according to a police incident report, which indicated the victim died at the scene.

The man's death was the 33rd traffic-related fatality of the year, according to police who said 31 had died at this same point last year.
