25-year-old Lower Valley motorcyclist dies month after crash with pickup truck

UPDATE, Dec. 27: A motorcyclist seriously hurt in a crash a month ago has now died of his injuries, El Paso police announced Monday.

25-year-old Marco Antonio Marin of the Lower Valley had been hospitalized at University Medical Center following his collision with a pickup truck on Nov. 22 at Hawkins and Tony Lama.

Police said his death marked El Paso's 72nd traffic fatality of this year compared to 68 at this time a year ago.

UPDATE, Nov. 23: A 25-year-old motorcyclist remained hospitalized Tuesday with life-threatening injuries following a Monday night crash at Hawkins and Tony Lama.

Marco Antonio Marin of the Lower Valley was in serious condition at University Medical Center.

Investigators said the crash occurred when a pickup truck turned in front of Marin's motorcycle; police didn't indicate whether the pickup driver would face any charges in the collision.

ORIGINAL REPORT, Nov. 22: EL PASO, Texas — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in crash with a vehicle in east El Paso on Monday night.

Traffic investigators were summoned about 9:30 p.m. to the crash site at the intersection of Hawkins and Tony Lama.

Authorities said the victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital in serious condition.

No further details were immediately available.
