ABC-7 First Alert: Strong winter storms brings wind, rain/snow showers and colder temps. next few days

EL PASO, Texas-- The ABC-7 StormTrack Weather team has issued an ABC-7 First Alert for a strong winter storm that will be approaching the area late Monday.

The first effects will come in the form of strong winds Monday. A Wind Advisory is in place until 8 p.m. tonight. Gusts of up to 50 mph are expected until at least 7 p.m. tonight. A High Wind Warning is also in place over the area mountains.

Overnight Monday and Tuesday the storm system will move in from the west with increased chances for rain and snow, as well as much cooler
temperatures.

Colder air will arrive late Tuesday with highs reaching the lower 50s. Wednesday is expected to be the coldest day of the week with afternoon highs reaching the lower 40s.

The area will see a wide variety of precipitation types, beginning with rain Tuesday, changing to a mix Tuesday evening, and snow overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.
The winter storm exits later in the day Wednesday allowing dry weather to return through the weekend.
