ABC-7 First Alert: Calm Friday, 55 MPH wind gusts expected Sunday

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- We remain under an ABC-7 First Alert for your Sunday winds are expected to accelerate potentially reaching 55-65 MPH. Patching blowing dust and sand can be expected as well with a temperature drop.

Weather for your Friday is looking great! We will be comfortable today as we continue a warming trend. Temperatures are anticipated in the mid to upper 70s with overnight lows in the 50s. We will see a light breeze.

Temperatures will continue climbing for your Saturday potentially reaching the 80s. Winds will pick up a little bit reaching 35 MPH.

Sunday is the big first alert day! Winds are expected to be sustained at 40-45 MPH with wind gusts potentially reaching 55-65MPH. At this speeds wind gusts can become damaging. This wind event will occur mainly during the afternoon hours. To accompany the winds we will see some patchy blowing dust and a drop in temperature as our warming trend comes to an end.

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch that will go into effect from 10 AM Sunday until 7 PM that same evening.
