ABC-7 FIRST ALERT: Winds crank up for some, colder air for all.
El Paso experienced a record high temp Thursday hitting 100 degrees. This is now the earliest triple digit temp on record. The old record was 100 that occurred on May 8, 1989. Now, get ready for a big change Friday. Winds will pick up across El Paso while colder air behind a cold front arrives Friday morning. Wind gusts will hit around 55 mph for the west side of the mountains. Gusts will begin to diminish just after 11 am and continue to weaken during the afternoon.
Temps will cool down to the upper 70's - some 15-20 degrees below the highs we had for Thursday. The weekend looks decent with temps in the mid 80's and a mix of sun and clouds. A 20% storms for Mother's Day.
