ABC-7 First Alert: Extreme heat will ravage the Borderland this Saturday
El Paso, Texas- It's going to feel like a furnace this afternoon! We are on par for record breaking heat across El Paso, plus some Borderland locations will see highs near 110 degrees.
Forecasting a high around 108 degrees in El Paso. Our record to beat is 106 set back in 2013.
When we see temperatures above 104; people who are outside for a prolonged period of time could succumb to heat related illnesses. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water, wearing sunscreen and staying cool.
Highly recommend not walking your dog after 10 A.M. A simple way to tell whether or not the pavement is too hot for your dog to walk on is to put your bare hand on it and try to hold it there for 10 seconds. If you can't hold it for 10 seconds it's too hot for them.
Remember, "If it's too hot for your hand. Then it's too hot for your pup."
