LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- High wind and blowing dust were causing a travel hazard along the Interstate 10 corridor on Friday afternoon, the New Mexico Department of Transportation said in a warning to motorists.

A high wind warning from the National Weather Service was in effect until midnight in El Paso and Hudspeth Counties in Texas and Dona Ana, Luna and Hidalgo counties in New Mexico, where officials reported low visibility due to blowing dust.

The NMDOT urged drivers to use caution on the roadways as the weather service indicated winds were gusting up to 60 miles per hour.
