Bill O’Reilly is STUNNED that liberal 2020 candidates believe liberal things

Guess who was watching the fourth Democratic presidential debate on Tuesday night? Former Fox News personality Bill O’Reilly!

And he was shocked — SHOCKED — by what he saw. In a series of tweets, O’Reilly expressed amazement with traditional liberal politicians expressing traditional liberal policy prescriptions.

Here are just a few of O’Reilly’s wonderment tweets:

And when he wasn’t expressing his amazement that liberal presidential candidates support liberal policies, O’Reilly was taking a shot at the veracity of the claims made on the stage.

“Beto says he met a woman working FOUR jobs,” tweeted O’Reilly. “And raising a special needs child. I don’t believe him. Sorry.”

To which O’Rourke responded this way via Twitter:

“This is her. Her name is Gina. Her daughter’s name is Summer. The problem with our economy is she has to live in her car—while a disgraced TV host like you makes millions.”

OOMPH. (Side note: O’Reilly was fired from Fox News in 2017 amid a series of sexual harassment allegations and news of payouts made to women who had alleged harassment or verbal abuse in the past. O’Reilly has denied the allegations and said reports about inappropriate behavior are an effort to remove him from the marketplace.)

The point here is not that O’Reilly needs to agree with Sanders or Warren or O’Rourke. Obviously he doesn’t. There’s no question that policies like “Medicare for All,” the Green New Deal and a mandatory buyback program for weapons like AR15s and ARK47s are clearly liberal, big-government solutions to problems facing the country. And polling suggests that none of those trio of policy prescriptions are overwhelmingly popular even among a majority of Democrats.

What’s remarkable is how stunned O’Reilly seems to be by the fact that people like Sanders and Warren — unapologetic liberals — are, in fact, unapologetic liberals. It’s like going to a steakhouse and being appalled and amazed that most of the items on the menu are beef. Or going to Disneyworld and expressing shock and dismay that there are a lot of kids there. Or going to the movies and being overwhelmed that the screens are so big and it’s very dark in there. Or, well, you get the idea.

In short: What did O’Reilly expect? It’s a Democratic debate! The candidates will say things that Democrats believe! Which may well run counter to what you believe! Which is fine!

This is why we have two parties. And elections. Someone alert O’Reilly.
