An organization bought billboards to remind voters of Election Day. The signs had the wrong dates.

Vote.org was trying to get out the vote in Mississippi but a printing mix-up meant the billboards were telling potential voters the wrong dates.

The message on Vote.org billboards is simple: “VOTE” with the date of Election Day underneath.

It’s part of the group’s campaign to get Mississippians to the polls for the November 5 election. Voters will head to the polls to elect a new governor and other state and local leaders.

The Election Day that was advertised, though, was well over a week after the Mississippi election would take place.

That’s because the six billboards the group’s vendor put up around Jackson, Mississippi, were actually showing Louisiana’s election date, which takes place on November 16.

“The billboards containing the incorrect date were identified shortly after they were put up and, within hours, were removed by the vendor responsible,” Vote.org communications director Kamari Guthrie told CNN in a statement.

AdQuick, the vendor that put up the billboards, says it was because of a printing mix-up and that the signs were taken down within 24 hours.

The company said in a statement provided to CNN by Vote.org that they would be putting up even more billboards in the Jackson area to make sure people know the correct voting date.

Vote.org is a non-profit organization that provides voters in underserved communities the resources needed to vote.
