Doña Ana County accounts for 2 of New Mexico’s 7 new virus deaths
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- New Mexico health officials reported seven new coronavirus deaths on Tuesday, two of which occurred in Doña Ana County, raising the state's fatality count to 476.
The latest deaths happened just a day after New Mexico had experienced its first day of recording no deaths since mid-April.
The two Doña Ana County victims were identified as a man in his 70s and a woman in her 80s, both of whom had been hospitalized prior to their deaths. That increased Doña Ana County's death toll to eight victims.
There were also a half-dozen new infections reported in Doña Ana County, which contributed to 147 additional cases statewide.
New Mexcio's cumulative case count reached 10,838 on Tuesday, while Doña Ana County's case total hit 740.
