EL PASO, Texas -- Two separate crashes, one involving a jackknifed semi-truck, along I-10 westbound at Geronimo on Tuesday snarled late night traffic.

The crashes occurred along the slick, wet highway during an evening of rain showers and gusty winds across the Borderland, although the exact cause of the accidents was not immediately known.

While one crash involved a semi that jackknifed, the other was a collision between two vehicles.

The left 3 lanes of I-10 west were closed as of 10 p.m. due to the crashes, and traffic was backed up to Airway.

El Paso police estimated it would take a couple of hours to clear the crash scene and fully reopen the interstate.
