Supreme Court hands down decisions on Biden Administration’s ability to end ‘Remain in Mexico,’ EPA’s power in regulating emissions

UPDATE: The Supreme Court has handed down both decisions. The court said the Biden Administration can end the controversial Trump-era "Remain in Mexico" policy, while it put limitations on the EPA's authority to aggressively regulate carbon emissions.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Supreme Court is expected to hand down two consequential decisions Thursday morning, regarding immigration and environmental issues, respectively.

As the Supreme Court justices prepare for the end of their current term, they'll decide on whether the Biden Administration can end the "Remain in Mexico" policy that was implemented by the Trump Administration. Under this policy, asylum seekers are forced to wait in Mexico pending an immigration court decision.

The court will also make a decision on whether the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has the authority to aggressively regulate planet-warming emissions from power plants. If the Supreme Court denies the EPA such authority, it could mean severe limitations on the EPA's power to fight climate change.
