Governor Gregg Abbott hits back at student debt relief program
AUSTIN, Texas --
Texas Governor Gregg Abbott, along with 21 republican governors are urging President Joe Biden to cancel his student loan relief plan.
The governors penned a letter that say the program offers a bail out for a minority of Americans who they claim are largely "well off." They argue that those with the highest amount of debt certainly have graduate degrees like lawyers, doctors, and professors.
The White House, on the other hand, justifies the program with the skyrocketing price of a college education and the increasing demand for secondary education degrees to remain competitive in the job market.
Student loan forgiveness has long been a major policy objective
