More migrants camp outside of Juarez city hall; others leave shelters
JUAREZ, Chihuahua (KVIA) -- With the anticipation that Title 42 will end on May 11, 2023, more migrants are already making their way near the border.
A new migrant camp was set up between the National Institute of Migration and Juarez city hall in late March. More migrants have been seen joining the camp, and it has seen bigger every day.
Last week in a news conference, Juarez Mayor Cruz Pérez Cuéllar mentioned migrants have been leaving the city and the federal government shelters.
There's no information that they are leaving because of the possible lifting of Title 42, but shelters in Juarez do have space to host migrants living in the streets.
On Tuesday, Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos mentioned that Juarez has around 35,000 migrants waiting to cross into the U.S.
