Police Investigate Possible Shooting In West El Paso
EL PASO, TX — New details on a shooting in West El Pasoconfirm a man was shot in an attempted car theft, but the victim isn’t suffering from a bullet wound. Instead, authorities report the assailant apparently used a pellet gun to shoot the victim.
It happenedaround 4:30 p.m.Monday in the parking lot of the Golden Corral restaurant on the 7400 block of N. Mesa. The man, who hasn’t been identified, was leaving the restaurantwhen he found two men trying to break into his car.When he confronted them, themen assaulted the car owner and one of them allegedly shot him once in the face. Officers report the wound is consistent with what could be caused by a pellet gun.
The assailantssped away fromthe scenein a blue or turquoise Chevrolet Cavalier, with a temporary paper license plate, police said.
