Prominent El Paso Couple Arraigned For Fraud
EL PASO, TX- A prominent El Pasoan, who performed dental work in Juarez, and his wife areaccused of filing false claims with insurance companies for the past 11 years.
Raul Hector Villalobos and his wife Elizabeth are charged with money laundering, mail fraud and making false statements from Novemeber of 1996 until now. The couple was arraigned on Tuesday afternoon.
In the indictment, obtained by ABC-7, it states Villalobos would use several El Paso addresses to bill insurance companies for work performed in Mexico.
The document also states Villalobos does not have a license to practice dentistry in the U.S. or in Mexico.
The couple is also accused of underreporting their income to the IRS. Prosecutors want the couple to forfeit $2,324,295.97 in assets.
The Villalobos are known in the community for holding the annual “Polo with a Purpose” fundraiser at their property, the Tarahumara Polo Field in La Union, NM.
