Quintana Update: Police Investigate Alleged Letter Forgery

EL PASO, TX — El Paso police are investigating allegations that a document City Rep. Rachel Quintana used in an attempt to get a discounted airline fare was a forgery.

Officials with Southwest Airlines said Quintana presented their ticket desk with astatement on FedEx letterhead that indicated she was employed by the company and was therefore eligible for a discount the carrier provides for FedEx employees. FedEx officials confirm Quintana had left the company by that time.

Quintana has not been charged or arrested. If charges are brought against her, and she is convicted in court (of a Class C misdemeanor) she could face one year in prison, police officials said.

Police Chief Richard Wiles said a member of the city attorney’s office has contacted him on the matter. Wiles called a news conference on Tuesday to discuss the nature of the investigation.
