El Paso Police ID Man Who Died After DWI Arrest

The man who died after being involved in a one-vehicle traffic collision Sunday afternoon has been identified as Luis Alfonso Martinez, 50, of the 1200 block of Cuba.

Martinez was arrested for DWI shortly after the crash in the 1100 block of Hunter. Martinez’s condition was checked by Emergency Services. While Martinez was detained by the officers, they observed he was having difficulty breathing and unresponsive.

Emergency Services were called to assist. Martinez was transported to Del Sol where he died. The cause of death is pending toxicology.
