El Paso Gets 2 More Pro Baseball Teams
The Diablos won’t be El Paso’s only pro baseball team for the 2010 season.
The Continental Baseball League recently announced that a New York State League team will become the Desert Valley Lions and will play in El Paso this season. The league also announced that the Coastal Kingfish will be the league’s travel team and will be based out of El Paso.
?The (New York State League) is a premier pro baseball development organization that has sent more than 100 players to all levels of independent league baseball over the last four seasons, including the Atlantic League, CanAm League, the American Association and others,” CBL commissioner Ron Baron said in a news release. “We?ve had a good track record in the past three seasons in getting players in our league opportunities with affiliated teams, as 19 of our players have been signed by MLB organizations during that period. And a couple of those youngsters have a real shot to make a big league team in the very near future. So it?s a very exciting time for us.?
