Memorial Being Planned For Fetus Found In El Paso Parking Lot
The discovery of a fetus in the parking lot of a women’s reproductive clinic on Good Friday has local and national pro-life activists planning a memorial service.
Police say there is not a chargeable crime to investigate since the fetus was not viable at less than twenty weeks gestational age. The fetus was found near the Hill Top Clinic in West-Central El Paso, which performs abortions.
But some are demanding the fetus be treated with dignity, and have even given the fetus a name, “Joseph Thomas.”
Last Friday, Gabriela Federico was conducting a prayer vigirl outside the Hill Top Clinic when she was approached by one of the clinic’s neighbors.
The neighbor told her his dog found the fetus on the parking lot Thursday night.
When he realized what it was, he placed it in a bag on the ground next to the dumpster in the alley, Federico said.
The next day, the neighbor informed Federico of the bag and its contents and she called police.
Police said the fetus has been properly disposed of since they were called to the scene.
The Catholic Diocese of El Paso requested the remains be taken to Hillcrest funeral home.
Now, Federico and several other organizations want to make sure the fetus is given a proper memorial service.
“It sounds like it was placed there on purpose on for someone to do that on Good Friday is just disgusting. What we want is the dignity of this child be given back to him, ” said Federico with 40 Days for Life.
ABC-7 attempted to talk to Hill Top Clinic about the fetus that was found but they refused to comment.
