UPDATE: Just minutes after Republican Congressman Tony Gonzales held a news conference, Democratic Congresswoman Veronica Escobar spoke before the media at San Jacinto Plaza.

Escobar explained seeing some sort of Department of Defense presence at the border is not unusual. She did specify that it only happens during a crisis and that now is not one of those times.

Escobar stated fewer than 1,000 people were apprehended along the entire U.S.-Mexico border on a daily basis.

"That is lower than what we were seeing during Donald Trump's first administration, so the numbers are even lower today because of President Biden's executive orders," she said.

On the topic of the use of C-17 military planes for deportations Escobar said it was propaganda.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) - Democratic Congresswoman Veronica Escobar is addressing the number of deportations in El Paso during the week, additional troops arriving at Fort Bliss.

Issues concerns on the use of the military along the border and how it depletes military readiness.
