ABC-7 First Alert Cancelled, Expect Clear Sky This Weekend
The cold front that drenched the borderland early Friday has pushed through the area, that’s why Chief Meteorologist Doppler Dave Speelman has cancelled the First Alert he issued earlier in the week.
Skies will gradually clear tonight with overnight lows around the upper 30s with some breezes, he said.
Lots of sunshine is expected this weekend with colder high temperatures reaching into the upper 50s.
Speelman said we still could see the area’s official first freeze by Sunday morning, when temperatures are expected to drop down to 31 or 32 degrees. The coldest low temperature the El Paso International Airport has recorded so far this season has been 33 degrees.
Rainfall amounts from Friday’s storm showed El Paso received from one quarter to one-half inch across El Paso, while Las Cruces seemed to average about one-third of an inch. Deming picked up the most rain with amounts around 1.50 inches.
This is the most rain El Paso has received since August 26th, Speelman said.
