Minor league all-star hitting challenge to include interns on trampolines, on-field cookout and bar, other craziness

The NBA’s Slam Dunk Contest has become a yawn fest.

Major League Baseball’s Home Run Derby is OK, if you dig the long ball.

Leave it to Minor League Baseball to up the ante with what might be the craziest all-star event ever created.

The Baseballtown All-Star Home Run Derby and Hitting Challenge on Tuesday night will feature an intern jumping on a trampoline while the person tries to catch baseballs hit toward them. Batters will receive points if the intern catches the ball.

Not to be outdone, another intern – or a brave person – will be dangling from a crane and also will be trying to catch baseballs.

If mascots catch a ball, then points are deducted from the batter’s point total.

That isn’t even one-tenth of the what-the-heck activities planned as part of the hitting challenge.

Watch the video explanation of the hitting challenge here to find out everything that will happen during the event.
