Complete Coverage: Showdown in Albuquerque over police shooting death
A protest against the Albuquerque police department lasted 12 hours Sunday and ended with officers using tear gas to subdue the demonstrators.
At least one officer was hurt in the protests.
The University of New Mexico even installed a “shelter in place” to keep its students safe.
Earlier in the day, the 500 demonstrators shut down one of Albuquerque’s major arteries – Route 66.
Some of those watching the protest say it’s one thing to exert freedom of speech, and another entirely to shut down a major roadway.
