Sequel to ‘worst film of all time’ will be filmed in and around El Paso
The worst film ever made is getting a sequel.
“Manos: The Hands of Fate” was made in and around El Paso in 1966 and has rated as the worst film ever made since then.
Filming for its sequel, “Manos: The Search for Valley Lodge, began in Socorro, Texas in December 2011 with Rupert Munch at the helm as director.
The sequel, which does not have an official release date, will feature some of the actors from the original film and will have some surprises.
“This film has an amazing following, because it’s just so god awful,” Munch told ABC-7 in 2011.
The original is about a family getting lost and stumbling upon a hidden devil worshiping cult. And 45 years later Rupert and his crew are continuing the story line.
“In ‘Manos: The Search for Valley Lodge,’ The Master is a powerful sorcerer who gathers his wives—a polygamy cult—to propagate an army to serve the elder god Manos,” Munch told Fangoria. “The wives are ultimately stripped of individuality and converted into demonic types with supernatural strength/powers. In the first film, we were given hints of The Master and his powers, but it was never actually said what he and his followers were. Vampires? No. Undead? Maybe. I figured Torgo as a named demon/satyr type and just took it from there.”
But why make a sequel to such a bad film?
“On a dare,” Munch said. “I was kinda egged on by some friends to do this, and we said ‘what the heck you know, someone needs to do it,or not.'”
According to legend, the first film also was made on a dare.
“My goal is to make this psychcadelic, trippy, cerebral deafening film of all time,” Munch said of the sequel.
Munch also has plans for the original film, too according to torgolives.com, Munch’s website:

Here at Valley Lodge Presents, we are dedicated to the procreation and preservation of “all things Manos”. To this end, we are happy to announce that we will release several new versions of the 1966 classic film, in tandem with the release of our sequel, “Manos: The Search for Valley Lodge”.
“Manos: The Hands of Fate” HD/Blu Ray Edition:
We are cleaning/refurbishing the original film and remastering the audio. This process is yielding brilliant colors, unbelievable clarity, and revealing a much larger picture (as the original was significantly cropped)! For those fans who want the ultimate (original) “Manos” experience… this is for you!
“Manos: The Hands of Fate” Special Edition/Director’s Cut:
Utilizing the above restored film and consulting with the world’s leading authority on Harold P. Warren… his son, Joe… we will release a new edit of the original film featuring tons of new never-before-seen footage, new voice acting/sound design/soundtrack, and script revisions. We ask those leery of such meddling to relax… and trust us. It was always Hal’s intent to re-release his film with improved editing/sound design. This came straight from the horses mouth. His original masterpiece will always have its place. We offer a new take and, in doing so, honor Hal! In our minds, any film with more Torgo, The Master, and Diane Mahree (yummy) is a good thing! We hope you will agree.
