City offers new way to pay for parking meters

The city of El Paso announced there is an alternative way to pay for parking meters in the downtown area.

Beginning Tuesday, motorists will be able to avoid citations with a pay-by-cell app that is available on any android and Apple device.

The ‘Pay El Paso’ app is free to download.

Currently, motorists are allowed to pay with a debit card or with change.

The new system lets you add time to your meter before it expires without having to rush to the meter. It will allow users to pay with a debit or credit card.

The app will also send you are warning five minutes before the time expires.

‘Park El Paso’ covers the estimated 2,000 meters in the downtown area.

Meters will be marked with a ‘Park El Paso’ label with information on how to download the app.
