El Paso Couple Welcomes Quintuplets
yesterday. and quintuplets have never been born in el paso. learning how to handle more babies than they have hands … is going to be a challenge. abc-7’s andrew j. polk is live at providence hospital where the babies will stay for a while. bob and estela, the parents say they’ve worked hard in their education and jobs to be in a good position at this point in their lives… but as the mother and babies rest and get stronger here at providence memorial hospital on the westside… some realities are starting to set in. off the top :37 ‘i come from a big family. i have seven brothers and sisters… but when my parents found out and my brothers and sisters found out we were having five, it was like they were the first babies ever in the family.” marco delgado and his wife susana giron have known for a few months they were going to be especially blessed… the staff even running through drills on how to handle five babies at once. but as the mother and infants rest and get stronger, more planning is going to be happening. they’ll be needing five times the normal amount of bottles, diapers blankets and more… and family and friends are looking to help out, along with the hospital. “absolutely. so everyone ha been put in place. the social workers have worked, the march of dimes is involved. i’m sure early childhood intervention will be involved. so everyone that we have that can possibly assist the family will be called upon.” and marco says that while they’re a proud and private family, they won’t be turning away any help at this point. if you’re interested in doing something or donating, we have links to a go-fund-me account on our website, k-v-i-a dot com. reporting live on the westside… andrew j. polk, abc-7. andrew, thank you for that story. we spoke with long-time el paso journalist joe muench … he’s the father of quadruplets! now in his late sixties, joe’s kids are in their thirties. but he says remembers the day they were born like it was just yesterday. today, he invited us into his home to look at pictures, share his stories, and of course, he offered words of wisdom for the parents of what could be el paso’s first quintuplets. “we made sure they all made t the same school but tried to get em in different classes sot hey could grow up as individuals. we never dressed them the same. we let them be themselves.” and from all of his here at abc-seven we wish mom, dad and five little babies all the best. welcome
