EPISD superintendent addresses “penny swap”
If voters give the green light for El Paso Independent School District’s tax ratification or “penny swap” it could switch some money around in its budget and unleash millions more from the state.
A big part of that money is going toward pay increases for teachers and hourly workers, which the school board has already approved.
If voters approve the “penny swap” officials said the district would receive about $13.7 million in extra money this year.
El Paso School District Superintendent Juan Cabrera joins Mari Garcia to speak about the tax ratification during the 4 pm newscast.
