EPPD: Traffic fatalities have increased in 2016
The El Paso police say there are an increased number of people dying in traffic fatalities this year.
Special Traffic Investigators have seen 41 deaths on the roadways from Jan. 1 until July 24. Last year, there were a total of 29. Of the 41 deaths this year, 15 involved pedestrians.
Investigators have identified alcohol and speed as contributing factors in 30 of the collisions.
Police continue to urge residents to observe posted speed limits, traffic laws and if you are going to drink, don’t drive.
