A judge Monday lowered bond for 31-year-old Leonel Hernandez from a million dollars to half-a-million dollars.
Hernandez, of the 900 block of South Mesa Hills, is being held on murder charges in connection with the killing of former KLAQ DJ Richard Madrigial, 33.
Officers responded to a homicide on the 4100 block of Westside at the Terrace Hill Apartments in early June. According to police, Madrigal was found dead from a gunshot wound. Investigators said Madrigal was discovered in his apartment after a friend stopped by to visit.
Police also arrested Marinda Palacios, 33, of the 900 block of S. Mesa Hills, and charged her with “Failure to Report a Felony.” She was released on a $5,000 bond.
Palacios allegedly witnessed the killing and told investigators she did not report the murder because she feared for her life. A court document obtained by ABC-7 further states Palacios drove to a local hotel moments after the killing, had drinks at the bar, and spent the night in a hotel room.
A motive for the killing is not yet known. Court documents state Hernandez allegedly admitted he killed Madrigal.
