Investigators: 9 officers opened fire on armed Houston lawyer
Investigators say nine police officers opened fire on a Houston attorney who was fatally shot to end his neighborhood gunfire that left nine people hurt.
Houston police on Wednesday updated the investigation into the Sept. 26 incident in which Nathan Desai was killed by officers.
Authorities are trying to determine why Desai, who had a concealed handgun permit, randomly shot at people and vehicles.
A police statement says officers and Desai exchanged gunfire for about 30 minutes as he took cover behind a tree. Police from Houston, Bellaire and West University Place shot at or fatally wounded Desai, who died at the scene.
No officers were hurt.
Desai, who wore a replica of a World War II Nazi general’s uniform, had no known criminal record or history of mental illness.
