LCPD officer accused of exposing himself no longer on the force
The Las Cruces police officer accused of answering the door naked for a pizza delivery woman is no longer with the department, an LCPD spokesman said Wednesday.
William Gonzalez, 28, served in the department three years. The LCPD spokesman confirms December 28th was Gonzalez’s last day with the department.
Gonzales was put on administrative leave after the alleged incident occurred in November. No reason was cited for Gonzalez leaving the department.
Police Chief Jaime Montoya released a statement saying in part, “It is truly sad that an employee knowing right from wrong still does wrong against all reason, it is also sad that an employee will put a fellow employee in a tough position.”
According to a police report, Gonzales answered the door naked when a 20-year-old female Domino’s employee arrived to deliver pizza. The Domino’s employee notified her supervisor, who contacted police.
The police report says Gonzales asked the responding officer to “make this go away.”
The responding officer did not make it go away and Gonzales was cited for indecent exposure, a misdemeanor.
