Police identify man stabbed and killed in Northeast El Paso
The man stabbed and killed near an apartment complex at 3334 Zion Tuesday afternoon was 21-year-old Erik Deshaun Bertrand, El Paso police officials said.
Police responded to a car crash with injuries just after 2 pm May 2, 2017 at the apartment complex.
Officers arrived to find Bertrand, the driver of the mid-size sedan, with a stab wound to his upper torso.
Bertrand was transported to University Medical Center, where he later died.
An investigation revealed the victim and two others had gone to the apartment complex to meet a group of people.
Police said the groups got into a fight and Bertrand was stabbed.
“The others involved in the altercation fled the scene,” police said in a news release.
Bertrand crashed into another vehicle inside the apartment complex as he tried to drive away to seek help, police said.
