WATCH LIVE: District Attorney’s news conference following Jesse Hanes’ guilty plea
Jesse Hanes, the man accused of shooting and killing Hatch police Officer Jose Chavez, pleaded guilty to First Degree Murder in Dona Ana County District Court Wednesday.
Dona Ana County District Attorney Mark D’Antonio is holding a news conference including various law enforcement agencies and some of Officer Chavez’s relatives.
On Monday, D’Antonio filed a notice saying prosecutors will seek a life prison sentence without the possibility of parole or release, if Hanes was convicted in Chavez’s death.
