Hundreds show their pride at annual Fourth of July parades

Parades across El Paso drew in crowds of people eager to begin their 4th of July celebrations in the Borderland.

In West El Paso, families lined the sidewalks as different groups showed up for The Rotary Club of West El Paso’s 21st annual Independence Day Parade.

The fire department, the police, and soldiers all marched the streets along the two-mile route.

From groups on horseback to men playing the bagpipes in kilts, the parade did not lack patriotism.

American flags waved all over the event.

Across town on the East Side, the red, white, and blue was also on full display.

Despite the warming temperatures, the weather was still nice enough for East El Paso residents to stand under the 4th of July sun for the 37th Annual Fourth of July People’s Parade.

Put on by the El Paso Del Norte Lions Club, many gathered to celebrate Independence Day Tuesday morning.

Albert Blanco, a parade attendee, was joined by his family – following what many at the event stated is part of the tradition of 4th of July.

“Every year we come here, it’s a thing to do,” Blanco said. “We enjoy it, we love it – all the things that happen here. It’s great.”
