Woman accused of using stolen credit cards

El Paso police charged an El Paso woman with five counts of burglary and credit card abuse.

Tuannet Perez, 37, was jailed on a $105,000 bond.

ABC-7’s I-Team requested the affidavits regarding the recent arrest, which unveiled Perez has been accused of crimes committed in El Paso over the span of at least four years.

According to the affidavits, police said Perez went though the back door of a business on the 4700 block of Hondo Pass and stole a purse and a wallet. Police said the purse was worth $350 and wallet cost $150. Investigators said inside the wallet were 10 credit cards, gift cards totaling more than $350 and the victim’s Social Security card. Officials said surveillance shows video of Perez entering the business and walking out with the purse.

When police went to confront the suspect, investigators issued a search warrant to search Perez’s car. Upon searching her car, police said, they found a piece of evidence that linked her to a crime that took place in 2013. According to the affidavit, police found a Red Box DVD inside her car, that had been purchased using a stolen credit card.

Police said the suspect stole a purse from the 4700 block of Hercules Ave. in February of 2013. Investigators say the victim placed her purse inside a closet while she at a church service. Police said Perez grabbed the purse and bought more than $200 worth of stuff at Game Stop. Perez allegedly also bough a Red Box DVD and items from a gas station and Target.

Police said the case was inactive until a search warrant was issued more than four years later. Investigators said the RedBox DVD inside Perez’s car was purchased with the card that was stolen from the purse in 2013.

Perez is charged with one count of burglary of a business and five counts of credit card abuse and has a bond totaling $105,000.

Police said additional arrest are pending.
