Highly-anticipated Chihuahuas vs. Baby Cakes game rained out
They are considered to be two of the most unique mascots in all of baseball, but we’ll have to wait another day to see the Chihuahuas take on the New Orleans Baby Cakes.
The game in New Orleans was officially postponed after multiple rain delays Thursday evening.
The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 4 p.m. MST to make up for the rain-out. Each game is only slated to last seven innings instead of nine.
New Orleans changed its mascot from the “Zephyrs” to “Baby Cakes” after a fan vote last year.
The mascot is a play on the Mardi Gras tradition of baking a cake with a plastic baby inside. Whomever receives the slice with the baby inside is supposed to host the next Mardi Gras party.
As of Thursday the Chihuahuas were five games behind the Salt Lake Bees for first in their division and a possible playoff spot.
