Clint ISD offers more academic programs for its students

The Clint Independent School District is four days into the new school year, but many of its students are already preparing for a career post-high school.

CISD is made up of 11,800 students with four high schools, four middle and junior high schools and six elementary schools.

The four high schools are Clint, Mountain View, Horizon and Clint ISD Early College Academy.

“This is the first year that we have so many offerings for our students,” said superintendent Juan Martinez. He was referring to the academic opportunities available for students at Clint ISD high schools.

Program include engineering-related courses, electrical trades, construction, a health and sciences academy that offers a dental and veterinarian program, pharmacy and EMT classes.

“Basically, every high school is an academy now,” Martinez said.

The district also promotes “College for All,” an initiative that provides K-12 students opportunities to explore and prepare for post-secondary education and career preparation.

The Bound for Success program ensures that all seniors have the opportunity to enroll at the University of Texas at El Paso.

“Students become part of the UTEP life through field trips and they also receive counseling at the university level,” said Martinez.

CISD implemented the Superintendent’s Scholarship Fund to raise money to provide college scholarships to graduating seniors.
