Police arrest suspect in West El Paso stabbing

Police say a fight in West El Paso ended with the victim and the alleged attacker wounded.

It happened Wednesday, August 16, 2017 on the 3900 block of Emory.

Police say Gerardo Almanza, 25, met with the victim, only described as a 45-year old male, at a residence on Emory just after 2 PM.

A confrontation ensued and Almanza allegedly attacked the victim with a knife.

Police say a struggle over the knife followed and the victim sustained a knife wound to his hand. Almanza sustained a knife wound to his arm.

The victim was able to take the knife away from Almanza while other witnesses at the scene called the police.

Almanza allegedly fled the scene, but was located a short time later by police officers.

He was charged with Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon and booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
