LCPS graduation rates above state and national average
Graduation rates for high schools in Las Cruces are up. Big time.
“I don’t know if there’s any secret,” said Dr. Wendi Miller-Tomlinson, the district’s assistant superintendent for teaching and learning. “It’s a lot of hard work on the part of the teachers, students, parents and the community to keep students engaged in school.”
The district’s 2017 graduation graduation rate was 85.5 percent, well above the state’s graduation rate of 71.1 percent.
“We were very happy to hear that the hard work that we’ve done with our students has paid off,” Miller-Tomlinson said.
The district’s 2017 graduation rate is also above the national average, which is 84 percent.
LCPS compiled the chart below, which indicates how the district’s graduation rate has steadily risen over the past five years, compared to the state’s graduation rate, which has remained relatively constant.
