Police identify man brutally attacked outside ‘Profe’ bar

Detectives with the Crimes Against Persons Unit continue the investigation into a bar fight early Sunday morning that left a man with life threatening injuries.

Police officers working in the area near the Don Haskins Center were flagged down and advised of the fight nearby at about 12:52 a.m.

When the officers arrived, a large crowd dispersed and the victim was found on the ground in the parking lot at 2720 N. Mesa.

Polie said Ernesto Chaparro, 25, was transported to University Medical Center with life threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed the fight started inside the Profe bar and continued on the parking lot after bouncers pushed those involved outside.

One of the bouncers was also assaulted during the fight, police said. No arrests have been made.
